Part A: The Chromaccord (Home)

1. The Chromaccord, an Instrument for Performing Kinetic Color.

"Kinetic color" is color that changes hue, value, and saturation.

"Chromaccord" is "chroma" and "accord", meaning "colors together".

The Chromaccord is an instrument designed to manipulate kinetic color to invoke visual responses. It places an area of color (the object) on a background of another color (the surround). The instrument is performed by changing the color areas.

An object/surround pattern has been used since the nineteenth century to demonstrate the effect of one color on another. By using such an arrangement, the chromaccord becomes a tool for exploring the visual experience of continually changing sequential and simultaneous contrasts.
